The inflected forms of the vn. come from *smuaintiughadh [as in TBg], viz. gs. smuaintighthe, 1588 ; napl. id. 802, 5182, 5763 ; gpl. -tightheadh, 1125, 2466; dpl. -tighthibh, 1122, 1689, 2452, -79, 4660, 5936. With these cf. past subj. 2 sg. smuaintighthea, 6693 (a solitary instance of -tigh- in the finite verb).
