mode, manner, O. Ir. indas; used with go (or nach) follg., to denote ‘so that,’ etc. (a) In consecutive clauses, with ind.: i. gurab ionann, 112; i. nach téid, 82, etc., passim. (b) In final clauses, with past subj.: go nguidhdís, ‘ut deprecentur,’ 3964; nach tugdaois faill, ‘ut non negligant,’ 4982; or cond.: go bhfoillseochthaoi, ‘ut ostenderetur,’ 3101; nach biadh, ‘ut non fiat,’ 4114. It should be noted that subordinate clauses are often placed between ionnus and go (nach); ionnus an tan do-chífidís..., gomadh cumhain leó, 304, 491, 2317, etc.; even the subject of the go clause is inserted, if accompanied by a relative clause, cf. ionnus an dream do léighfeadh..., go dtugdaois, 452; and this is the case with the logical subject of the go clause, even when grammatically expressed otherwise: e.g., ionnus an tí ar a mbiadh an singin sin, go mbiadh tearmann aige, 705
